Maple syrup transmittance analyzers measure the percent light transmittance of maple syrup as compared to the analytical reagent glycerol. This transmittance value will allow the identification of syrup quality class.

Using a 10 mm light path square cuvet this meter allows you to precisely gauge the maple syrup grade.

The quality of the maple syrup is depending on the color of the syrup, lighter colored syrup being very high and darker colors being low. High quality maple syrup must be devoid of suspensions, bad odors and must have a minimum density of 66.0 brix (20 degrees C)

This meter is water resistant and the lamp and filter are protected by a transparent cup, making it ideal for field work. This meter also features an auto-shut off feature that will turn off the instrument after 10 minutes of non-use in measurement mode and after 1 hour of non-use in calibration mode.

This unit includes 5 square sample cuvets, (1) 9V battery, a light shield cap, 5ml syringes (2), rigid carrying case and 30 ml glycerol along with an instruction manual.
