Manganese is not usually found in natural waters but it is often found in certain salts and minerals, frequently associated with iron compounds. Manganese salts are used as fertilizer additives, in ferroalloys (in steel manufacturing) and in non-ferrous alloys because it improves corrosion resistance as well as hardness.

This test kit will allow you to test the Manganese levels in the 0.0 to 3.0 mg/L range. Although Manganese is not considered to be toxic and is considered to be a trace nutrient in food and water it has been limited in water, due to its ability to stain in laundry and its detrimental effects on the taste of water. Large manganese concentrations are usually found in domestic wastewater and industrial effluents.
